Our Ministries
Serve With Us
At St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, serving is at the heart of our community. Our members share their time and talents to support worship, fellowship, and outreach — and there’s a place for everyone, whether you’re new or have been part of our parish for years.
You can volunteer as an usher, reader, or videographer, join our adult or Kids’ Choir, help with Children’s Chapel and nursery care, or assist with coffee hours, dinners, and special events. Our youth and young adult group, Faithful Fellowship, also plays an active role in serving both the church and the wider community. Members of the Daughters of the King offer confidential prayer ministry, while the Episcopal Church Women coordinate social events and outreach programs. We also partner with ECHO (Erwin Churches Helping Others) to support neighbors facing food insecurity.
No matter your gifts or schedule, there are meaningful ways to make a difference. Serving at St. Stephen’s is an opportunity to grow in faith, build relationships, and help bring Christ’s love into the world — together.
Christian Formation
At St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Christian formation is a lifelong journey that embraces all ages. From our youngest members to adults, we provide opportunities to learn, grow, and deepen your faith. Children participate in Children’s Chapel during Sunday worship, while our Kids’ Choir helps them engage with music and liturgy. Teens and young adults connect through our volunteer-led youth group, Faithful Fellowship, which also supports activities like Vacation Bible School.
For adults, occasional Sunday morning sessions and seasonal programs provide spaces for reflection, study, and discussion. We also offer devotional resources for home use, including Lenten reflections and other take-home materials. Christian formation at St. Stephen’s is about nurturing faith, building relationships, and helping everyone — from first-time visitors to lifelong members — grow closer to Christ.
Youth & Young Adults
Our Youth and Young Adults at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church are an active and vibrant part of our parish life. The volunteer-led group, Faithful Fellowship, provides teens and young adults with opportunities to serve, learn, and grow in their faith. They have been instrumental in planning and leading events such as Vacation Bible School, helping younger children engage with church life, and supporting worship ministries like the Kids’ Choir.
This ministry is a place for young people to explore their faith, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful relationships within the church and the wider community. Whether participating in service projects, social events, or spiritual formation, our youth and young adults help shape the life of St. Stephen’s and carry Christ’s love into the world.
Outreach
At St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, outreach is a cornerstone of our mission to serve our neighbors and reflect Christ’s love in action. We partner with ECHO (Erwin Churches Helping Others) to provide food and support to those experiencing food insecurity and actively engage in other local community initiatives.
Our congregation has a long history of service, from helping establish Hospice care in the area to awarding scholarships for local students. Through these ministries and volunteer efforts, we aim to meet practical needs, foster hope, and build meaningful connections within our community. Outreach at St. Stephen’s is an invitation for every member to contribute their time, talents, and compassion to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
